LIFE UNEXPECTED invites us to rediscover an extraordinary family (2010)

Last season “Life Unexpected” introduced us to Lux, a 16 year old girl who tracked down her birth parents hoping for court-ordered emancipation and found a make-shift family instead.

Starring Britt Robertson as Lux, Shiri Appleby as her birth mother Cate, Kristoffer Polaha as her birth father, and Kerr Smith as Ryan, Cate’s new husband, “Life Unexpected” takes us on a journey of self-discovery and healing. Like in any family, being a teenager is hard, but for Lux, she has the added complication of teaching her parents how to be parents and learning to be a kid for the first time in her life.

Joining Kate, Ryan, Baze and Lux are Lux’s returning friends Bug (Rafi Gavron), Tasha (Ksenia Solo) and Jones (Austin Butler) and Baze’s buddies Math (Austin Basis) and Jamie (Reggie Austin). The new faces this season are Emma (Emma Caulfield) and Trina (Gina Holden). Emma works for Baze’s father at his investment firm and Trina works at Kate and Ryan’s radio station as a corporate executive. Also joining the series are Arielle Kebbel and Jaime Ray Newman. (Erin Karpluk may return later in the season after her work on the third season of “Being Erica” concludes.)

As the second season opens, Kate and Ryan return from their honeymoon and Baze has a new love interest. With Kate and Baze now united on raising Lux, the season will explore facing conflicts brought by their respective jobs and making sure that Lux stays out of trouble.

Their story both charms us and enchants us with their love, laughter and comedic adventures in discovering what being a family is all about.

Do not miss “Life Unexpected” which returns for its second season on Tuesday, September 14, 2010. “Life Unexpected” airs Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. on the CW.
